Age 7 I have been a preacher?s kid for the biggest part of my life. At age 7 I was a member of the Church and I can remember all the kids went next door to the parsonage to have Children?s Church. We would get finished before the older people at the church, so all us kids were allowed to go outside and play till church was over. We were all outside one Sunday afternoon and I was riding the pastor son?s bicycle. The road was a country road with not much traffic. I rode the bike out into the road between two parked cars and an oncoming vehicle struck me at a pretty high rate of speed (about 45 or 50). I suddenly was thrown into the windshield and then when they hit their brakes was slid down the asphalt road about 50 feet or so. The impact with the windshield had left me scalped, skull shining, and was conscious, standing in the middle of the road bleeding profusely 5 seconds later! Everyone in the Church auditorium was at the alter praying when my Children?s Church Director went barging thru the doors screaming..?Bro. Duke?s little boy has been struck by a car and is dying!? Needless to say, my parents went Ballistic! They came running out to me, picked me up and was in route to the Hospital within a couple of minutes! After we had arrived at the hospital, The doctors were amazed to find that I had NO serious injuries! (unknown to him, the church ad went back into the church and back to the alter to pray for me.) The doctors sewed my head up (75 to 100 stitches) and when they were done, one doctor said..?I don?t know what you people have over there at your church, but you evidently have something because this child should be dead!? God answered prayer, touched me and healed my body that day. I was sewn up and sent home the same day, thanks to God.
